thinking about how delicious this bread with butter and a bit of coarse sea salt tasted.

I had a fairly late call time yesterday so I decided to take myself out to lunch and go for a little wander. I had a delicious pho lunch at Nha Trang in Chinatown. I used to go to another place but a friend recently introduced me to this joint and I'm into it. It's amazing how hard it is to find truly excellent and cheap Vietnamese food in NYC. I never realized how spoiled I was in Texas nor had I realized how large the Vietnamese population is in the state. Anyway, after lunch I moseyed my way through the Bowery and the East Village, looking for good street art and those great little details that are all over the city. Such a great way to spend a late morning and early afternoon before heading off to a wedding.

I took a friend out for a belated birthday brunch on Sunday. We had an amazing meal at Flatbush Farm followed by a mosey down Atlantic Ave going into all the shops, some amazing cocktails at Bijan's and Les Miserables at BAM. Good times, GOOD TIMES.

Just a few little snapshots from our time in the Texas hill country. There was: a Kinky Friedman sighting at the airport, not near enough delicious tex-mex (to be amended next time), a little family bbq, hangs with the parental units and big brothers, loads of quality time with the Sophie dog, bottle after bottle of Topo Chico and new year's eve in San Antonio with one of my favorite humans and her gentleman. Over all a great time.
