In which we go sightseeing in NYC, in the middle of a snowstorm...

Last month was really quite full. All kinds of awesome people came to visit! The second weekend of the month my most favorite of all my nieces (I only have one but even if I had a bunch she would be my favorite) came up to spend a weekend and to celebrate the grand milestone of turning 15! Coolest kid ever… You know those people you just know you were meant to be friends with? That's me and this gal. I could tell that we were BFFs, even when she was a tiny baby, no joke.

So anyway, she came up to spend the weekend, which was super rad. The second weekend of the month was a bit bonkers weather-wise. We woke up Saturday morning to a pretty crazy snowstorm. Normally this would be a really good reason to stay home but for us, no way. Especially since the weather prediction for Sunday was sleet and rain. I had a full itinerary planned as one must! And so, off we went… (photos are a mix of iPhone and my niece's computer - a snowstorm didn't seem like a good time to pull out the SLR)

There were bagels at The Bagel Store on Metropolitan.
An attempt to see Yayoi Kusama that came to a screeching halt when we were told we'd be outside until 6.
Cookies at Levain (the best everrrr).
The Museum of Natural History who were totally winning the Christmas tree contest.

And a trek across Central Park. Let me tell you, you haven't seen anything until you've seen Central Park covered in snow in the middle of a storm.

And then, there was this:

  1. Ahaha this pretty much sums up my weekend too. I love NYC in the 2 hours - sorry, 15 minutes, before I get frostbite - after a snowstorm, but then it gets sludgy and you slip on ice and fall in sludge and urgh. But it looks like you caught some of the good bits!

    1. So true! At least this was just a heavy snowstorm. A few years ago my husband, a friend and I trekked across all of Manhattan through an insane blizzard to see Avatar. That trip wasn't near as fun...
